Who doesn’t dream of having a work-from-home job?Think about it. No morning commute. A better work-life balance. Spending more time with your friends and family. Now consider this: What if working from home doesn’t need to be done at your current home, and you could find a job that allows you to do remote work from anywhere in the world? It’s the ultimate fantasy: Make money and pursue your travel dreams at the same time. To help job seekers find these coveted remote jobs,FlexJobs has identified the top 25 companies that had the most work-from-anywhere in the world remote job listings in 2018.

According to an annualsurvey from FlexJobs — an online service for telecommuting, flexible schedule, part-time and freelance jobs — travel is one of the top reasons why people work in the first place, particularly among women. And having the opportunity to grow your career while you travel makes the idea of a work-from-anywhere remote job especially appealing.

“With work-from-anywhere remote jobs, professionals gain a lot of control over their work lives by being able to live wherever they choose,” says Brie Reynolds, senior career specialist at FlexJobs. “That sense of control lends itself really well to people who aspire to travel and work, and it can make them both happier AND more productive as professionals. It can also foster a sense of loyalty from professionals to their employers because they appreciate the opportunity to live and work wherever they choose.”

The number of work-from-anywhere in the world job listings has increased 53% over the last two years, according to Flexjobs. Getty

While only 5% of remote jobs can actually be done from anywhere in the world, according to Flexjobs, the number of work-from-anywhere-in-the-world job listings has increased 53% over the last two years. One thing that has contributed to this increase is the rise of technology. “With remote-friendly technology and high-speed internet now widely available, it’s easier than ever for remote employees to stay connected, no matter where they are located,” says Sara Sutton, founder and CEO of FlexJobs.

These 25 companies on the FlexJobs list represent industries such as computer and IT, education and training, media, HR and staffing, editing and marketing. And some of the most popular work-from-anywhere job titles include project manager, content writer, front-end developer, user experience designer, human resources generalist and online English teacher. But the options are endless.

On the top of the FlexJobs list is the companyCactus, a global medical communications agency that began offering remote work opportunities in 2007. “We quickly realized that it is beneficial for everyone concerned,” says Daniel Rosario, AVP of editorial talent acquisition. “Job seekers now have a much wider variety of options and can focus on what they do best; the company, in turn, has access to an expanded talent pool; and our clients — mainly research scientists — are assured of having their documents edited or translated by the right expert.”

According to Cactus, another benefit of offering flexible options is improved employee retention. “In-house employees who relocate to other cities or countries for personal reasons no longer need to quit; they just telecommute,” says Rosario. “In fact, the introduction of remote and flexible work options even brought back a number of our former employees as contractors or freelancers.”

Below, you’ll find the top 25 companies on the FlexJobswork-from-anywhere list.
