Texans’ favorite road trip pitstopBuc-ee’s is getting some love from an entirely different demographic for the first time since 1982 – Alabamans.
The Texas convenience store chain, made famous by its pristine bathrooms, friendly service and healthy wagesfor workers, opened its first location outside the state Monday.
The store opened with over 120 fueling stations in Baldwin County, Ala. to a line of 100 customers eager to see the smiling beaver in their neck of the woods for the first time, according to the Midland Reporter-Telegram.
A release from the company states that “the Baldwin location boasts over 50,000 square feet, 124 fueling positions, and the biggest, most pristine bathrooms the state of Alabama has ever seen.”
The new travel center is believed to be the biggest convenience store in the state of Alabama, accordingto AL.com. That wouldn’t come as a surprise as Buc-ee’s travel center locations, larger than the typical Buc-ee’s location, are known for having tens of thousands of square feet in retail space.
General counsel for Buc-ee’s Jeff Nadalotold AL.comin August that the company chose the state because “Alabama is aligned with the type of customer we are looking for.”
The chain is expected to open a second location outside of Texasthis summerin Daytona Beach Florida. North Texans who aren’t keen on sharing their iconic buck-toothed beaver can rejoice over the fact that Buc-ee’splans to open two new locations in the regionin 2019.
