  • A 21-year-old man is suspected of killing the five in Livingston and Ascension parish areas.

Five people were killed in two shooting sprees in southeast Louisiana on Saturday morning that police say were connected.

A manhunt was underway Saturday afternoon for 21-year-old Dakota Theriot, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s office said in astatement.

Authorities warned that Theriot is considered armed and dangerous, and believed to be driving a 2004 Dodge pick-up truck that was gray on top and silver on the bottom.

The sheriff’s office also identified the victims as Billy Ernest, 43; Tanner Ernest, 17; and Summer Ernest, 20, all of whom were killed in Livingston Parish.

Authorities also said the suspect’s parents, 50-year-old Elizabeth Theriot and 50-year-old Keith Theriot, were fatally shot in in the southeast town of Gonzales in Ascension Parish, according to The Advocate.

Theriot is currently wanted on two counts of first-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, and home invasion, authorities said.

Livingston County Sheriff Jason Ard said in a statement they don’t believe Theriot is in the parish currently, and that the investigation is being conducted along with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“We do not believe the suspect to be in Livingston Parish at this time. We are working in conjunction with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office as we believe our case is connected to a homicide investigation in that parish. Our investigation is ongoing.’
